Abrams and the coaching staff feels this practice went a long way when it comes to success of the team this summer. The coaching staff, unlike some of the other teams in the district and sectional tournaments, makes sure all the kids on the roster get into the game. Always rooting for each other to succeed and comforting each other when things didn't go their way.' The also showed such great energy, effort and a positive attitude. 'They learned to come back after some tough defeats and play their best the next game. 'The kids really love each other and love playing together,' Abrams continued. 'After losing the first game in sectionals to Nottingham on a two-out walk-off home run which was devastating and a moment most of the kids had never experienced before, we continued to compete and won the next two elimination games in sectionals against Lincroft and South Wall, sending both of those teams home,' Abrams said of the team's performance. 'Super proud of the way the kids came back after that tough loss and won the next two games to stay alive. This team was also only the second team in Milltown Little League history to win multiple games in the sectional tournament. Last year's team managed by Doug Redondo and this year's team were the only ones to accomplish that feat.' Abrams along with coaches Frank Calandruccio, Pete Lewandowski and tournament director Dustin Katcher were extremely proud of the team which included Jack Abrams, Connor Buckley, Jack Katcher, Cece Calandruccio, Robert Spicuzzo, Will Zatorski, Harrison Kreiger, Aiden Kunda, Ryan Forney, Gavin Scammacca, Kayla Lewandowski, Anthony DeVito and PJ McGinnis. The team was the number one seed in the District 10 tournament and won two consecutive games over Sayreville to win the title. While the 12U Gray team is disappointed about the outcome of Wednesday's game, the team had a 10-4 run in the district and sectional tournament this summer. 'Baseball is definitely the number one sport in town and our children love playing the game,' Milltown Gray Team Manager Ed Abrams said. 'There's great support from parents, and we have great volunteer coaches that start teaching the kids when they are four-years-old. They are taught the game the right way from an early age, and it translates into success down the road. We also have a very strong baseball travel program, the Padres, and most of the kids start playing together on the same team when they are seven and eight years old, which really helps with our recent District 10 championship success.'
